Kurs i vetenskapligt skrivande

Vi har återigen glädjen att erbjuda en kurs i vetenskapligt skrivande, i samarbete med BJS, https://www.ed.ac.uk/studying/postgraduate/degrees/index.php?r=site/view&id=1098

Kursen, som löper över 10 veckor och är helt digital, anordnas av universitetet i Edinburgh. Kursen vänder sig till dig som är intresserad av att utveckla ditt akademiska skrivande, och som har möjlighet att ägna 10 timmar per vecka mellan 9 september och 29 november, 2024. Deltagarna förväntas delta i on-line aktiviteter minst två gånger per vecka. Kursen är helt kostnadsfri för den som är medlem i Svensk Kirurgisk Förening. Ansökan om att få gå kursen görs till styrelsen för Svensk Kirurgisk Förening senast 19 april.

Ansökan skall innehålla en kort (max en A4) motivering till varför du vill gå kursen, ett kort CV (max en A4) innehållande namn, kliniska och akademiska meriter och examina samt ett intyg från forskningshandledare och/eller verksamhetschef att du har möjlighet att avsätta 10 timmar per vecka mellan 9 september och 29 november.

För att vidareutvecklas inom gastrokirurgi

Stipendium för dig som är medlem i SKF (Svensk Kirurgisk Förening) och vill vidareutvecklas inom gastrokirurgi.

Stipendiet på 50 000 kronor kan sökas för auskultation eller forskningsvistelse på annan klinik, eller till kliniskt projekt för att stimulera fortbildning och forskning inom gastrokirurgi (gäller ej för kongressresa).

Professor behind ’Fast-track surgery’ honoured with award

Today we are delighted to officially present Professor Henrik Kehlet – the recipient of our inaugural BJS Society Award – with his award at a ceremony in Switzerland’s Lausanne.

Professor Kehlet was selected by a panel of experts from around the global surgical community, in a process similar to that of the selection for Nobel laureates, for his profound impact on patient care.

Described as a “colossus” in the field of research into perioperative care, Professor Kehlet’s works, based on sound basic science research, translational research, clinical trials, and publication of guidelines, have led to a paradigm shift in the principles of perioperative care.

Inaugural BJS Society Award Recipient Unveiled

In October 2022, we opened the nomination window for the inaugural BJS Society Award, inviting you to nominate an exceptional individual who has had a profound impact on patient care.

What followed was a rigorous judging process, similar to the selection process for Nobel laureates, with a confidential panel of experts reviewing over 70 nominations made by experts from around the global surgical community.

Today, we are delighted to announce Professor Henrik Kehlet as the recipient of this award.

Professor Kehlet, Professor of Perioperative Therapy at the University of Copenhagen, has been recognised for his ground-breaking “Enhanced Recovery After Surgery” (ERAS) protocols, which have changed clinical practice in multiple fields of surgery and improved outcomes for patients all over the world.

Anders Bergenfelz, Chair of the BJS Society, said: “The rubric for this award states that it should represent a discovery, innovation or scientific study within the field of surgery that has changed clinical practice with a profound impact on patient care, and it is patently clear that Professor Kehlet’s outstanding work fulfills every one of these criteria.”

The accolade includes an award of €100,000, the largest monetary prize of its kind in the surgical field.

The award will be presented at a ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Friday 16 June.

MRMI kurs i katastrofmedicin

Kursen är en internationell konceptkurs som ordnas av Karolinska och MRMID och ESTES. Den är väl dokumenterad, helt interaktiv och mkt uppskattad av de som gått den. Kursen har funnits sedan 2009.

Kursen hålls på KS 20–22 September 2023.

BJS Editor Assistent

BJS and BJS Open wish to encourage young surgeons to take an interest in medical publishing. To this end, the BJS Society has established Editor Assistant bursaries. It is envisaged that suitable applicants will be at, or near, the end of higher surgical training, or recently appointed to a substantive post. Although no previous publishing experience is expected, the successful candidate will have scientific curiosity, write well and have a facility for constructive criticism.
